Keratoconus, Myopia Control, High Prescriptions
What happens when glasses and regular contacts are not enough?
In cases of severe dry eye disease, keratoconus, and other corneal degenerations, the front surface of the eye is no longer smooth. Light bends inconsistently through a bumpy, uneven surface. It does not matter if these patients wear glasses or conventional contacts. A bumpy, uneven surface, beneath regular glasses and contacts, can never yield sharp, defined clarity.
Many of these patients receive restricted drivers licenses and suffer through excessive eyestrain, glare, and fatigue. It is easy to mix up similar shaped letters and numbers.
Fortunately, these cases are rare.
Dr. Yang has a special spot in her heart for these challenging cases and has been taking care of these types of patients over the years. Using specialty contacts, she creates a custom, smooth, artificial surface through which these diseased corneas can finally focus. It has been a delight for her to witness many first moments of clarity in patients who had resigned themselves to blur. Her absolute favorite aspect of optometry is how sharp vision will immediately improve someone's quality of life. It is a source of inspiration for her, and if you feel you could benefit from specialty contacts, please call and schedule a comprehensive exam as a first step.
Some specialty lenses include:

- Hybrid lenses: single vision and mulifocal
