Hybrid contacts combine the optical clarity and benefits of a rigid gas permeable contact (RGP) with the comfort of conventional soft contacts. Hybrids are a good option for patients who want freedom from glasses without compromising sharp vision and comfort.
Because RGP lenses are rigid, optical clarity is improved in them, but patients may experience lens awareness as they blink over the rigid edge. Soft lenses, because they are flexible, dramatically reduce lens awareness, but compromise some clarity by flexing. Hybrid lenses combine the benefits of both.
